AseemA is the new carrier from soulslings, AseemA means ‘limitless’ in the Indian language Kannada.
I was lucky enough to test this carrier. AseemA is an adjustable carrier wearable from approximately 3.2 kg till 20 kg (newborn to toddler). The carrier is adjustable in height and in seat wide.
I used this carrier a lot over the last 2 weeks, partially because my back and ribs where blocked and wrapping was to painfull but mostly because it's such a comfortable carrier.
I tried it with a variety of ages, which gives me a pretty good idea on how easy it is to adjust from one child to an other. The kids I tried it with are, 5 months, 9 months, 1.5 year and almost 2 year. Sadly enough I didn't have a newborn to try it with.
For the 5 month old I put the setting in between the smallest and medium setting, for the 9 month old on the medium setting, for the 1.5 year old in between the medium and biggest setting and for my 2 year old on the biggest setting.
The wide of the seat adjust with strong velcro inside the waistband (as you can see in the pictures below), the height adjust with a sliding system inside the shoulder straps.
The AseemA has a wider and firmer waistband as the other carriers I'm used to using from soul, I find it very comfortable, especially with my almost 2 year old I can feel the difference.
The shoulder straps are also different from other soulslings carriers, they are thicker and softer then for example the AnoonA carrier.
Besides differences between AseemA and other carriers this one also has some new features.
The most innovative new feature has to be the detachable lumbar support pad. This pad can be put on the waistband with front carries and give extra back support. This pad really helped me the last 2 weeks carrying all the kids here with the pain in my back. (picture below of the pad, inserted and picture of the pad on itself)
Then you have the detachable pouch that goes on the waistband below the back panel. The pouch is big enough to hold a phone, keys, some money and some cards and so on, it has a leach to use it as a pouch without the carrier as well. (pictures below of this pouch of the inside and the outside)
The hood on the AseemA is detachable as well.
Apart from this, the AseemA has one other big difference from the AnoonA, and that's the deep seat, the AseemA allows for a deeper seat than the AnoonA, which I think a lot of people might like, including myself.
As I told before I used this carrier with a variety of babies, with the 5 month old I can't pull the shoulder straps as tight as I would have liked, I'm fairly skinny and for me the straps are just a tiny bit to long to get a very small baby snug against me. I tried to cross the straps on my back with the little one and this did wonders for getting a snug and tight fit with her aswell. On the other hand the straps are very long, and thanks to this can be used by caregivers of all sizes, which makes it an other inclusive carrier as all of soulslings carriers.
The other little negative point I found was the adjusting of the hight of the backpanel, my almost 2 year old likes to pull her arms out and likes to lean, because of this leaning, she sometimes pushes down the top part of the back panel which reduces the hight of the backpanel. I have asked other parents that have tried this carrier and haven't heard from any others that have this issue, so I guess it's just my squirmy leaning toddler.
So to sum it all up, I really like this carrier, it's well made, very easy to adjust and very easy and comfortable to use with all ages, for front aswell as in back carries. The little extra's like the pouch and the lumbar pad make this carrier a great carrier!
