This wrap is a size 5, 100% cotton, approximately 300 g/m²
When I first felt this wrap straight out of the box it felt very rough and hard. I put it in the wash after quickly checking it over and taking a before-wash picture. After washing and ironing she felt already much softer. After a few times wrapping this wrap was completely broken in and very soft and easy to wrap with. As you can see in the picture below washing new wraps is really important to get them out of loomstate, to make sure your wrap will not get any trait shifting and to make it soft and fluffy ;)
What I do really like in this wrap is the fact that the 2 sides are so different, 1 side dark while the other is white, I loved the white side of the wrap most. The different colors sides are really fun to play with in multi layered carries, and if you don't have the money to buy 2 different wraps, you get 2 in one with this one :)
I look forward to see what other colors and designs neisna will come up with in the future.
Although this wrap is around 300 g/m² it doesn't feel so heavy or wrap like a heavy wrap, it's very moldable and easy to wrap with and ties a nice small knot. It was very easy to break in this wrap surprisingly for a 100% cotton wrap with a grammage this high.
I tried a lot of carries and this neisna holds it's ground in single, double and triple layered carries, very comfortable and also very soft for newborn wrapping. I tried backcarries with my 2 year old son and front carries with a 4 month old I nanny, both where very easy and comfortable to carry, I'd say this wrap is good for toddlers and also very good for newborns ones broken in.
Neisna is a swiss based company run by 2 sisters, their wraps are woven in a small family run weaving mill in Austria. Wraps are woven in limited numbers and once sold out not rewoven again.
The name neisna comes from a small village called Knysna in south Africa which is pronounced 'Neisna' the sisters travalled there when they where kids, it's located at a lagoon on the coast and is a beautiful place.
